Invite your friends to an artful, creative and imaginative birthday party!  ArtMuse for Kids birthday parties combine hands-on projects, games, and a little bit of fine art to create a memorable celebration.  Host a party at home or in a location of your choice.  Activities can be geared to groups aged 5-7 or 8-10.  1 hour program.  $12/kid; materials, take-home project and master copy of flyer-style invitation included.  Group max 18.  To download a birthday party flyer, click here.

Picture Perfect: Portrait Masterpieces

Inspired by a diverse selection of painted portraits, this program will combine games and hands-on activities to explore some of the formal qualities of art: line, shape, color, pattern and texture. With all the trappings of a 19th century portrait studio at their disposal (including costumes and props), each kid will create a self-portrait.

Walk Like an Egyptian

Using Egyptian paintings and sculptures as our guide, kids will be inspired to get-up and bring the past to life.  We will walk like Egyptians, translate hieroglyphs, play ancient Egyptian games and create our own narrative scroll.  Featured artwork will explore the concepts of figure style and narrative composition.

Art, Nature, Sculpture

Stacking rocks, weaving leaves, and watching the effects of the wind - nature will be our inspiration as we learn about art made from natural materials. A nature walk (weather permitting) will accompany hands-on activities and pictures of Andy Goldsworthy's sculpture. Each kid will create several original works of art, including an ephemeral sculpture captured by digital photography.
